Lee Piano Studio Policies for August 2011 – August 2012

The policy is strictly enforced and applies to all students and their parents/guardians, studying music at Lee Piano Studio.

Tuition and Payment:

Tuition reserves a lesson time specifically for a student and is not refundable.  Tuition is divided into 10 equal payments due by the 15th of the month, from August 2011-May 2012.  Tuition can be paid in full for the year by August 15, for a 3% discount.  Payment received after the 15th of the month incurs a $15 late fee.  Tuition rates for 2011-12.  60-minute lesson  $xx/month    45-minute lesson - $xx/month   30-minute lesson: $xx/month

A non-refundable registration/materials fee of $xx reserves a student’s time in the teaching schedule.  This fee is $xx for siblings.  Student events that are sponsored by organizations outside the studio are not included in this fee.

Carnegie Hall RCM Achievement Program and Performance Opportunities

Students participating in the Carnegie Hall RCM Achievement program must be enrolled for at least 45-minute lessons-and are required to attend group theory/musicianship class and to complete theory assignments weekly at home.  Group class will also be held regularly for all students who have had at least 1 year of instruction.  Students are expected to participate in the performance opportunities listed in the studio calendar.

Cancellations:/Studio Closings

Rescheduled lessons due to teacher cancellation will be given in the form of a group class during the summer.  No rescheduled lessons are given for cancellations made by students.

Studio closings are listed in the studio calendar found at leepianostudio.com.  The calendar, which is subject to change, includes 4 weeks of unscheduled closings due to teacher emergency or illness.

Schedule Changes/Swap List

If a student needs to change his lesson time, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to reschedule the lesson by contacting another parent/guardian of a student on the Swap List and to notify the studio of the change 24 hours in advance. Tuition will be forfeited if a swap cannot be arranged with 24 hours notice.

Summer Lessons

Students who take at least 3 lessons during the summer term may reserve their lesson time for the 2012-13 school year in advance of students who withdraw for the summer.  Summer session is billed separately from the regular school year.

Instrument

A student taking piano lessons should practice on an acoustic piano, tuned twice a year.

Practice

A student’s practice should be focused on achieving specific goals.  Daily, focused practice is the key to progress.  If needed, a parent should supervise the practice time of the student as much as possible.

Student and Parent Attendance

Students should arrive and depart from their lessons promptly.  Parents are encouraged to observe lessons regularly, especially for students 10 and under, in order to help the student practice during the week.

Dismissals

A student can be dismissed from the studio at the discretion of the teacher.

Termination of Lessons  One month of paid notice is required if a student wishes to discontinue lessons.
