Lee Piano Studio Policies for September 2010 – June 2011

The policy is strictly enforced and applies to all students and their parents studying music at Lee Piano Studio.

Tuition and Payment:

Tuition reserves a lesson time specifically for a student and is not refundable.  Tuition is divided into 10 equal payments due at the first lesson of the month from September 2010-June 2011.

Private 60-minute lesson  -  $XX/month                 Private 45-minute lesson - $XX/month

A registration/materials fee of $XX is due at registration.  Student events that are sponsored by organizations outside the studio are not included in this fee.

Group Piano Classes and Performance Opportunities

Group piano classes are given through the school year.  Private lessons are held the week of group class.  Students are expected to participate in the performance opportunities listed in the studio calendar.

Instrument

A student taking piano lessons should practice on an acoustic piano, tuned twice a year.  The teacher strongly encourages using an acoustic instrument for practice.  If it is not possible for the student to have an acoustic piano, at the very minimum a digital piano with weighted keys that is touch sensitive, has 88-keys and is equipped with 2 working pedals can be used for the first 6 months.  Parents should plan to buy an acoustic piano within the first year of lessons.

Practice

A student’s practice should be focused on achieving specific goals, rather than just spending a set amount of time at the piano.  Daily, focused practice is the key to progress.  If needed, a parent should supervise the practice time of the student as often as possible.

Personal Hygiene

Fingernails must be trimmed short and hands clean.   No shoes or food including gum, are permitted in the studio.

Student and Parent Attendance

Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your lesson time with all relevant materials.  Students must be picked up promptly at the end of their lessons.  Parents are encouraged to observe lessons regularly, especially for students 10 and under, in order to help the student practice during the week.

Cancellations:

Rescheduled lessons due to teacher cancellation will be given in the form of a group summer camp in August. No rescheduled lessons are given for cancellations made by students.

Schedule Changes/Swap List

If a student needs to change his lesson time, it is the responsibility of the parent to reschedule the lesson by contacting another parent of a student on the Swap List and to notify the studio of the change 24 hours in advance. Tuition will be forfeited if a swap cannot be arranged with 24 hours notice.

Dismissals

A student will be dismissed for reasons including but not limited to failure to pay tuition or unacceptable behavior by the student or parent.

Termination of Lessons
One month of paid notice is required if a student wishes to discontinue lessons.
